New Jersey Luring Report a Misunderstanding: Police

A report of a man trying to lure a teenage girl jogging with her high school track team in a New Jersey park turned out to be a misunderstanding, police say.

Saddle Brook police say that the man in a BMW SUV who yelled at a 17-year-old girl actually knew the teen and was one of her father's friends. The girl, who had fallen behind her teammates and was running alone, didn't recognize the man and thought he was a stranger trying to lure her into his vehicle.

The girl told police that the driver yelled "hey, I know you, come get in the car," but investigators were unable to verify if the man actually told her to get into the SUV.

Police said the case was closed out as a misunderstanding.
