Simeonette Mapes-Crupi was found face down with multiple stab wounds in her Staten Island home July 5

A 30-year-old man has been charged with murder in the July stabbing death of his wife, a 29-year-old New York City school teacher, found face down in their Staten Island home, police said Tuesday.

Simeonette Mapes-Crupi died of multiple stab wounds to the torso; she was found in her ground floor Forest Hill Road apartment the afternoon of July 5.

More than four months later, police announced her husband, Jonathan Crupi, was arrested and charged Tuesday with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Information on an attorney wasn't immediately available.

At the time of his wife's death, Crupi told police he had spent the day at Brooklyn's School for Classics: An Academy of Thinkers, Writers and Performers, where he and his wife both taught, and returned home to discover her dead. The couple was two days away from their fifth wedding anniversary.

Mapes-Crupi had been working as a social studies teacher in Brooklyn schools since 2006, according to the Department of Education.
