Chimney Sweep Store Owner Shot Multiple Times Dies Day After Being Found on Shop Floor

The co-owner of a fireplace store in New Jersey who was found shot multiple times on the floor of his shop has died, a day after he was discovered in the office by his business partner and police who were sent there to check on him after his family hadn't heard from him for a few days, authorities said.

Authorities confirmed Richard Zariello, 51, died shortly before 4 p.m. Monday.

He was found lying on the floor of his Clean Sweep Chimney Depot on Route 46 in South Hackensack by his business partner and police Sunday. Prosecutors say Zariello had been shot multiple times; they say they believe he was attacked in the past few days, though it's not clear when.

It wasn't clear if any money or property was missing from the store.
