Manager Shot, Robbed in Bushwick Store: Police

Police say a 24-year-old supermarket manager was shot in the shoulder during a robbery in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

A man with a gun walked into the Fine Fare Supermarket on Truxton Street Monday afternoon, pointing his weapon and demanding cash, police said. He managed to get his hands on an entire cash register drawer with $532 inside, but before he ran off, he shot the manager in the shoulder.

No one else in the store was hurt, but neighbors were shaken up.

"The manager is always around, so it's kind of sad to hear this -- in our neighborhood, especially," said Orlando Vasquez.

"I think it's really just disrespectful. It should not have happened like that," he said. "There is no reason for you to go in front of a family or in front of a place and do something like this.":

The victim is in stable condition at a hospital, police said.
