Two of the most playful youngsters at Six Flags Great Adventure this summer will be in one of the park's safari exhibits.
The Jackson, New Jersey, park is introducing two California sea lion pups born last month. The pups, named Piper and Ridley, are both lively and playful, according to trainers.
"(Piper) has no qualms about sassing the trainers or her mother through vocalizations. She is exploring her independence at an early age,” said Jessica Peranteau, the supervisor of animal training at the park.
Ridley is the smallest sea lion pup ever born at the park, weighing in at just 15 pounds. Despite her small stature, zookeepers say she is energetic and swims in a unique fashion.
Both sea lions are expected to reach anywhere from 110 to 220 pounds.
