A brass bell on Long Island dedicated to the memory of the Newtown, Conn. school shooting victims has been stolen, Nassau County police say.

The 8-inch-tall bell, with an inscription that says “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings,” was stolen from the Masone Beach playground in Island Park between 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, police say.

The bell was also inscribed with the number 26, which represents the number of people killed at the shooting last year at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

If you have information, contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477.
