Power Outage Causes Significant Delays on Half a Dozen Train Lines

A power outage in Manhattan disrupted service along six subway lines at the height of the morning commute Friday, stranding straphangers on crowded platforms and packed trains.

The outage between Chambers and Canal streets lasted a little more than an hour, according to the MTA.

Some train lines were rerouted for a time; on other lines, commuters had to get off their subways and switch to different trains.

Service was restored by 9 a.m., but significant delays were reported on all of the lines affected by the outage throughout the morning.
