Cops Shoot, Kill Man in Harlem Apartment

Police say an emotionally disturbed man refused to drop a knife

A man was fatally shot by police in his Harlem apartment Tuesday when he threatened officers with a knife and refused to drop it, authorities said.

Police responded to a 911 call for an emotionally disturbed person with a knife inside an apartment at 113 Morningside Ave. at about 6:30 p.m., according to police. Officers ordered the man to drop the knife but he refused.

The officers shot a Taser stun gun at the man, but he continued to approach them with the weapon. That's when police opened fire, shooting and killing him.
