Police Seek 2 Men in Bronx Barber Shop Robbery

Police are searching for two men accused of robbing seven people at gunpoint inside a Bronx barber shop where children were present.

Authorities say one of the men pulled out a gun inside El Truco Barber Shop on Ogden Avenue in Highbridge last Sunday and ordered everyone inside to the back of the shop. The other suspect then removed their property and money, placing everything in a red and black book bag.

Police released surveillance video Sunday showing the robbery in progress.

Jose Gomez, a barber at the shop, said one of the robbers held the gun to his head at one point.

"Every day I get nervous at my work," said Gomez. "Maybe the people come back."

Vladimir Mejia, the shop's owner, described the hold-up as "really scary" and said that among the witnesses were children who were there with their parents, including an 18-month-old baby girl.

"At one point the little girl was crying so much that the guy with the gun was getting really aggravated and pointed the gun at the little girl telling her to be quiet," said Mejia.

The first suspect is described as being approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, a black Yankees baseball hat and black pants.

The second suspect is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black Adidas jacket, a brown hooded sweatshirt and black Adidas pants.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
