Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man in New Jersey Neighborhood After Getting Call About Disturbance: Prosecutors

Police shot and killed a 21-year-old man that prosecutors say approached officers with a handgun and refused to drop the weapon when ordered to do so.

Police were called to a home on Cherry Wood Circle after getting a call from a man who said he was going to create a disturbance before hanging up, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

When officers arrived at the scene, a man came out of his home wielding a handgun, prosecutors say. The officers ordered him to drop the weapon and opened fire when he didn't.

The man was hit by several bullets and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity hasn't been released.
