Police have identified the victims of two fatal shootings in Nassau County over the July 4th weekend.
At 11 p.m. Friday, a man was shot in front of a home on Chase Street in Hempstead and drove away from the scene, Nassau County police said. He lost control of the vehicle a short time later and crashed into a house.
Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Gerraud Hill, of Malverne.
Hill was pronounced dead at a hospital. No one in the house was injured but the house suffered structural damage.
In a separate shooting, police say 28-year-old Victor Benitez, of Hempstead, was found lying on the street at 4:41 a.m. Saturday with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not made any arrests in the shootings.
