Burglar Caught Hiding in Closet, Pursued by Neighbors

A burglar is chased down the street by neighbors until police arrive

The tables were turned on a burglar when a homeowner confronted the man, chased him down the street and detained him until police arrived.

The Journal News reports that 20-year-old Bryan Mitchell was arrested Sunday. The homeless man was charged with burglary.

Authorities say a homeowner reported a burglary at 11 a.m. Sunday in Scarsdale. The resident heard a noise and saw a man fleeing with valuables. Authorities say minutes later another homeowner in Greenburgh found Mitchell hiding in a closet of his home. That homeowner confronted him and pursued him down the street with the help of his neighbors.

The residents held him until police arrived.

Online court records didn't list an attorney for Mitchell who could comment.
