An off-duty NYPD officer was critically injured in a motorcycle accident on Staten Island Friday morning, police said.

The 40-year-old officer, who was not identified, was traveling eastbound on Richmond Terrace at 9:26 a.m. when his motorcycle collided with a westbound-traveling Nissan Pathfinder that was making a turn onto Snugg Harbor.

The officer was taken to the hospital in critical condition.  The driver of the Nissan remained on the scene.  An investigation is ongoing, police said.
