Mother Arrested After ‘Extremely Cold' Baby Found Dead in Westchester Home: Police

Dasia Bartee, 26, is expected to be charged in the toddler’s death

The mother of a baby found dead inside a bedroom in Westchester County has been arrested, police said Saturday.

Dasia Bartee, 26, is expected to be charged in the toddler’s death, Mount Vernon police said. There was no information available as to whether Bartee has obtained a lawyer who could comment on the arrest.

Bartee is set to be arraigned Monday.

The 15-month-old girl's body was found in the second-floor apartment of a house at South Fulton and Washington streets in Mount Vernon Friday morning, police said.

It's not clear how or when the baby, identified as Samia Rose, died but police said she had significant injuries to her face and she suffered from internal bleeding.

Police also say the toddler’s body was “extremely cold,” and that she may have been placed in a freezer at some point.

Two other kids in the home at the time were unharmed and have been placed in the custody of child protective services, police said.
