The best professor in America isn't at an Ivy League school, according to Rate My Professor -- it's a health and nutrition sciences adjunct instructor at Montclair State University.
The website, which compiles students' reviews of professors and instructors, announced that Timothy Purnell was the nation's top-rated professor. The adjunct professor at Montclair State has a sterling 5.0 ranking with dozens of reviews extolling his teaching ability, humor and even his looks.
""this was the best class I've ever taken. he's easy, he's interesting, and he's good looking. take this class if you want to pursue any type of education," one reviewer wrote.
Purnell is also the superintendent of Somerville Public Schools.
Several other professors from colleges across the tri-state also made their way into Rate My Professors' "top-rated" and "hottest" professors lists.
The site also ranked the best universities and community colleges.
Topping the list for highest rated universities is University of Mississippi in Oxford while Santa Barbara City College in Southern California led the ranking for junior and community colleges. No tri-state university or college made the either top-25 list.
