Mayor Bloomberg is now a grandfather.
A spokeswoman for Bloomberg's daughter Georgina says she gave birth to Jasper Michael Brown Quintana around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. His father is Ramiro Quintana, a professional equestrian from Argentina.
Georgina Bloomberg is also a professional rider.
Bloomberg says he's "thrilled and just so proud of Georgina" and it's "an incredible way to start the new year."
In a speech earlier this month, the mayor got emotional while discussing his hopes for the future of the city that will be his grandson's home.
Bloomberg is leaving office at the end of the month.
