Man Dies in Queens Hit-and-Run; Driver Arrested: Police

A man is dead and another is arrested after a hit-and-run in Queens Monday night, police say.

A man, later identified as Jinhe Niu, 67, of Queens, was crossing the street mid-block at 46th Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when a Ford Explorer hit him, according to the NYPD.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where they found Niu unconscious, authorities said. Paramedics took Niu to Flushing Hospital, where he died, according to police.

The driver, Wesley Leung, stayed on the scene, officials said. Police later arrested the 46-year-old and charged him with operating a motor vehicle impaired on drugs, cops said.

The investigation is ongoing.
