Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run on Long Island

A man is charged with vehicular manslaughter after a hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian on Long Island.
 
Nassau County police say Cosmin Florea hit Donald Mooney around midnight Friday as Mooney crossed Main Street in Port Washington.
 
The 49-year-old Lynbrook man was pronounced dead at North Shore University Hospital around 4:20 a.m. Saturday.
 
Police say Florea's 2010 Ford Fusion was stopped in Queens around 12:45 a.m. They say the vehicle had windshield and front end damage.
 
The 34-year-old Baldwin man is also charged with leaving the scene of a fatality and driving while intoxicated.
 
He's scheduled for arraignment Sunday in Hempstead. Information on his lawyer wasn't immediately available.
