Machete-Wielding Man Slashes 3 After Fight Over Girlfriend in Queens Restaurant: Police

A jealous boyfriend wielding a machete slashed three men outside a Queens restaurant early Sunday, police said.

Police arrested 20-year-old Guillermo Torres, of Queens, and charged him with three counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The violence erupted just before 5 a.m. outside the Cibao restaurant, a Dominican eatery in Jackson Heights. But it stemmed from an earlier argument, when one of the victims approached Torres' girlfriend, police said.

The man offered to buy the woman a drink. That infuriated Torres, who confronted the man. A fight ensued, but Torres left the restaurant, police said.

He returned, armed with a machete, and waited outside Cibao with a few of his friends, according to police. Witnesses told NBC 4 New York that they were wearing masks.

When his targets emerged from the restaurant, Torres attacked them, police said.

A 32-year-old man suffered cuts to his head and back, a 20-year-old man was cut on his wrist, and a 23-year-old man was slashed on his head and hand, police said.

The three were all taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital in Queens and listed in stable condition.
