Webcam Foils Long Island Burglary: Police

Nassau County police say the Dix Hills homeowner was on vacation, but had set up a camera so he could monitor his house over the Internet from the other side the planet

Police on Long Island say a home webcam helped a Long Island man spot someone breaking into his house all the way from China.

Nassau County police say the Dix Hills homeowner was on vacation, but had set up a camera so he could monitor his house over the Internet from the other side the planet.

When he saw someone inside at around 9 p.m. on Friday, he contacted the police.

Responding officers spotted a woman running out of the house and arrested her.

Police say that when she was arrested, she was carrying one of the cameras the man had installed in the house.

Authorities said the woman would be charged with burglary.
