A Long Island man was arrested after he allegedly followed a woman into her apartment and ordered his pit bull to attack her, police said.

Luis M. Linares, 18, allegedly inserted himself into an argument between the victim and another woman in Bellmore early Sunday and chased the victim up to her apartment with his dog.

He allegedly ordered his dog to attack the woman, 32, and she was bitten in the leg while trying to get into her apartment, officials said. The victim then locked herself in her bathroom and Linares banged on its door until he punched a 2-foot hole in it, according to authorities.

Police said the victim's two children, ages 8 and 10, locked themselves in another room of the apartment because they were frightened.

The woman's injury was minor and her children were not harmed, officials said.

Charges against Linares include second-degree assault, second-degree burglary, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Information on a lawyer for Linares was not immediately available.
