Long Island Father Accused of Driving Drunk With 3 Kids in Car

A 28-year-old father was arrested on DWI and child endangerment charges after police allege he drove unlicensed and drunk with his three children in the car Sunday night on Long Island, police said.

Carlos Sanchez was driving west on the Long Island Expressway near exit 46 in Plainview around 10:30 p.m. without his lights on, Nassau County police said.

Police say Sanchez's sons, ages 6 and 3, and daughter, 1, were in the car with him. His younger son wasn't in a car seat, authorities allege.

No injuries were reported and his children were picked up from the scene by a family member.

Sanchez was charged with three counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated, having a passenger under 10 in the car without a restraint, unlicensed operation of a car and driving with insufficient lights.

He was scheduled to appear in court Monday in Hempstead. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
