Two teenagers face murder charges in the death of an 81-year-old Orange County woman whose body was found in a flaming home over the weekend, authorities say.
Firefighters responded to the home of Helen Mills in the Village of Goshen around 4 a.m. Saturday after getting a call it was on fire. Flames were leaping from second-story windows when they arrived.
After the flames were doused, firefighters found Mills dead in her bedroom. She was the sole resident.
Prosecutors say a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old allegedly killed Mills while they were burglarizing her home.
The teens were charged in felony complaints with second-degree murder.
Authorities were expected to provide more details at a news briefing Tuesday.
