A 7-year-old handicapped girl has died after falling out the fifth floor window of her family's apartment in the Bronx.
Police say Chelsea Maldonado died shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday from injuries suffered when she fell from the window of her Grand View Place apartment.
The little girl, who was blind in one eye, autistic and used a wheelchair, fell from the window, which had a child-protection guard on its lower half, police told the Daily News of New York. It wasn't clear how she fell out.
She was taken to a hospital in critical condition after her mother dialed 911. Neighbors said they heard her relatives screaming for help.
