A teenager died Sunday after an SUV hit her while she was walking on Long Island, police said.
Shakira Wilson, 17, was walking on Long Island Avenue in Deer Park with her 21-year-old sister at about 8 p.m. Saturday night when a Lexus SUV hit her, according to Suffolk County police.
The teenager was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with a serious head injury, and she died hours later. The 67-year-old driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A woman riding in his car wasn't hurt.
Police are investigating.
