Two relatives of a 6-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in a New York City elevator last spring have been charged with robbing a bank.
Prince Joshua Avitto's father, Nicholas, and uncle, Scott Avitto, are being held without bail. They made initial court appearances in recent days.
Their lawyers haven't immediately responded to inquiries Thursday.
Nicholas and Scott Avitto are accused of participating in a Brooklyn bank heist that netted about $8,200 in August 2012.
Nicholas Avitto became a public face of tragedy after his son and a 7-year-old friend were attacked in June in a public housing building. Seven-year-old Mikayla Capers survived.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and the Rev. Al Sharpton were among mourners at P.J.'s wake.
Ex-convict Daniel St. Hubert has pleaded not guilty in the stabbing.
