Drug Bust Nabs Teenage Dealers

Prosecutors say teens raided their parents' medicine cabinets and used that as their supply

Undercover buys from dealers as young as 16 have revealed widespread peddling of drugs from parents' medicine cabinets in Rockland County.

District Attorney Thomas Zugibe says 29 arrests have been made throughout Rockland County after a yearlong investigation.

He said Thursday that the defendants range in age from 16 to 34 and many are local students with no arrest records.

At least one undercover purchase occurred on the grounds of a grade school.

Zugibe said text messaging was the primary contact between sellers and buyers.

The district attorney said defendants raided their parents' medicine cabinets or used forged prescriptions to obtain a wide
variety of painkillers and anti-anxiety pills.
