One person was pulled from the water after a boat overturned near the Statue of Liberty early Tuesday afternoon, the Coast Guard said.

The boat was in the channel just south of Liberty Island when it flipped, authorities said.

Authorities rescued the boater after the vessel capsized. It then capsized a second time, but authorities managed to recover the boat.

The rescued boater was not injured.
