Boil Water Advisory in Yonkers Remains in Effect

The boil water advisory was issued Monday after a large water main break near Saw Mill River Parkway

A boil water advisory remains in effect in southwest Yonkers at least through Saturday as the health department waits for the results on a sample of water taken from the area.

The Westchester County Department of Health says it first round of water sample tests were all negative for coliform bacteria, but is waiting for the results from the confirmation samples taken Friday. Results should be available sometime late Saturday.

Residents and businesses in the area south of Ashburton Avenue to the New York City line between the Hudson River and the Saw Mill River Parkway are strongly advised to boil their water before drinking it or using it to prepare food.
