An Amber Alert has been canceled after a 9-month-old boy who authorities say was abducted by his father at knifepoint near Rutgers University was found safe, authorities say.
State Police say that William Merino was snatched from a home on South Talmadge Street in New Brunswick, by his father sometime Monday morning.
The home is blocks from the edge of the university's George H. Cook campus.
He was found safe at about noon, New Brunswick police say.
The boy's father, also named William Merino, is in police custody.
