$6K Donation Made to Family of 4-Year-Old Killed in Bronx Shootout

Assemblyman Eric Stevenson announced the donation Sunday, saying the money was raised through his efforts and the efforts of others

A $6,000 donation was raised for the family of a 4-year-old boy who was killed in the crossfire of a shootout during a Bronx basketball tournament.

Assemblyman Eric Stevenson announced the donation Sunday. Final funeral expenses for the boy will be paid for by anonymous benefactors, the assemblyman said.

The boy, Lloyd Morgan, died July 22 when, police say, about 13 rounds were fired from both sides of the basketball court and an adjacent playground, where Lloyd was standing with his mother. She wasn't injured.

Police on Friday charged 19-year-old Ronald Jeffrey of the Bronx with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting.

Police have also charged Rondell Pinkerton, 17, with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Courtney Kelly, 26, of the Bronx, who was wounded in the shootout, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

A 21-year-old man was also hurt.

Lloyd's funeral is planned for Wednesday.
