3 Shot, Including Child, in Yonkers

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Palisade Avenue and Elm Street

A child and two adults were hospitalized after a shooting in Yonkers.

All three were expected to survive, Yonkers Police Lt. Arthur Lien  said following the shooting Friday at around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Palisade Avenue and Elm Street.

Witnesses said a 9-year-old girl was shot in the chest.

"She was crying, she was crying, 'Pappy, you gotta come back, because somebody shooting outside,'" said Aureliano Loza, the owner of a restaurant located near where the three were shot.

Lien said victims were being treated at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

He said they were still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, and he didn't have information on a suspect or motive.

Police said they don't believe any of the three were intended targets and that they are looking into the possibility that it was a gang-related shooting.
