Prosecutors say two men found shot to death in Newark this weekend were apparently targeted by their assailants.
Tremayne Roberts, 26, of Newark and another man, who has not yet been identified, were found around 11:30 p.m. Saturday by city police officers who were patrolling in the 700 block of South 17th Street. Both victims were pronounced dead there a short time later.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said Sunday that authorities were still trying to determine the motive for the shooting. But she would not provide further details on the slayings, including what type of weapon may have been used or how many assailants may have been involved.
