5 people reported dead.

A 17-year-old upstate New York girl has died after falling from a cliff while hiking with three friends in the Catskill Mountains.

State police say the hikers were on a trail at the top of a cliff in the Greene County town of Hunter at around 2:30 p.m. Friday when Olivia Rose Belfiglio of Saugerties lost her footing and fell about 100 feet. She was a senior at Saugerties High School.

Police say the hikers were in an area known as The Devil's Kitchen. They say none of the hikers were wearing appropriate footwear for the terrain.
