Meghan McCain ripped into the man who rose to stardom during her father's failed presidential bid as a "dumbass" who should stick to his day job.
During an interview with gay rights magazine Out, the daughter of former presidential candidate John McCain, a same-sex marriage advocate, blasted Ohio plumber Samuel Wurzelbacher, who said in May he wouldn't allow "queers" near his children.
"Homophobia is the last socially accepted prejudice," McCain told the magazine, calling gay equality "my generation's civil rights movement."
McCain, who has taken Republicans to task for their anti-gay marriage views, said she would "be flattered to be considered the anti-Ann Coulter, the anti-Rush Limbaugh."
She also said she hopes her father will break with the majority of fellow conservatives and support same sex marriage.
"He's 73 and of a different generation," she said. "I hope someday he will come around."
Since the election, Wurzelbacher has spoken at conservative rallies and even jetted to Israel to report on the Gaza conflict. He spoke out against homosexuality in May when he drew criticism for calling gays "queers."
"God is pretty explicit in what we're supposed to do -- what man and woman are for," he said.
