Morgan Freeman and his wife of 24 years Myrna Colley-Lee are getting a divorce just days after the Oscar-winning actor was involved in a serious car accident while driving with another woman.

Access Hollywood confirmed the story via Freeman's attorney and business partner Bill Luckett, who said the couple had been separated since December 2007.

Freeman suffered a broken arm, broken elbow, and injured his shoulder during the crash, when it appears his car veered off the right side of Highway 32 in Mississippi and flipped over. Also in the car was Demaris Meyer, who was described as Freeman's friend.

Freeman and Meyer were returning to the actor's home at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday night. The pair needed to be extracted from the wrecked car with the jaws of life. Freeman was conscious as he was removed from the scene of the accident and alcohol does not seem to have been a factor.
