While Christian Lacroix the label attempts to rebuild from bankruptcy with a series of licensing deals that, most recently, include men's accessories and a home line, Lacroix the man lends part of his name (he left the trademark with the company when he left in 2009) to a new capsule collection, Desigual by Monsieur Lacroix.
The French designer has created a 30-look line of jackets, skirts and lingerie for fall 2011, to be followed up with another expanded collection in summer 2012, WWD reports. Based in Spain, Desigual's designs celebrate what Lacroix might call joie de vivre, with its signature patchwork palette of vibrant colorscapes and patterns, making a somewhat surprising marriage between high French fashion and fast Spanish fashion.
