In New Interview, Anna Wintour Claims She's Not "Intimidating"

    Vogue editor Anna Wintour sat down with Forbes for a rare video interview, having been ranked 69th on Forbes annal list of the 100 Most Powerful Women, and, presumably, in the spirit of promoting the upcoming Vogue-sponsored Fashion's Night Out event.

    Fashion's undeniable queen bee discusses the notion of power as it relates to women, and scoffs at the notion that she's perceived as intimidating. 

    Here, the highlights:

    On her reputation:
    "I don't think of myself as intimidating, and I assure you all of the people that have worked with me on a day-to-day basis don't think that, either ... That's just something that's been fabricated by certain elements of the media ... I just keep my head down, I try to do the job to the best of my ability."

    On what she's looking for in a designer:
    "All of us at Vogue are looking for talent. And we're also looking for someone who has a head on their shoulders and who understands that being talented is obviously important, but you also have to have a sense of business, and that being creative and commercial are two words that can work together."

    On her dream subject:
    "We were so lucky to have then-First Lady and now Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the cover and, more recently, the First Lady, Michelle Obama ... Those are, I think, benchmarks for the magazine."

    On advice for the next generation of "influencers":
    "Be true to yourself. Listen, as much as one is able, to other people whose opinions you respect and look up to but in the end it has to come from you and you can't really worry too much by looking to the left or to the right at what the competition may be doing or what other people in your field may be doing. It has to be a true vision."
