The Roots perform onstage at The Edison Ballroom on October 26, 2011 in New York City.

Technically, The Roots work for NBC. But there's no sense of corporate obligation or directive to promote the winningest band in hip-hop here on Nonstop Sound. Really, they don't need our help at all.

But the band's December 6 album Undun is really starting to get under my skin, and I haven't heard much of it all. To build some tension for the band's 13th release, The Roots are rolling out a new mini-vid every Tuesday. Yesterday marked the third installment of what's starting to congeal as with a solid narrative -- as I imagine Undun as a whole, given it's the band's first concept album.

The new clip, "Stomp," is at the top -- watch from the bottom to get the whole gist.
