As reported by Pitchfork, former (sigh) LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy and Okkervil River frontman star in "The Comedy," a comedy (natch) film set to make its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

The film will also star Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim of "Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" and notorious anti-comedian Neil Hamburger as a group of aging Brooklyn hipsters. Think they can pull that off? Written and produced by Rick Alverson, "The Comedy" was produced by indie label Jagjaguwar and Greyshack Films and Glass Eye Pix.

Sundance is going to be a busy time for Murphy, as "Shut Up and Play the Hits," the documentary about the tear-filled final LCD Soundsystem show at Madison Square Garden and the day afterward, will also debut at the festival. It's slotted in Sundance's non-competition "Spotlight" category.

That's a lot of James Murphy, right there. But could it ever be enough for fiending LCD fans? Sadly, no.
