Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Brun is a force to be reckoned with: she’s the founder of musical collective DetErMine, started her own record label in Sweden, is on her fifth studio album (“Changing of the Seasons,” produced by Valgeir Sigurdsson of Björk and Coco Rosie fame), and is currently opening for Peter Gabriel on tour (watch Ane and Peter performing Don't Give Up live). She released no fewer than four albums in the US this year (okay, it’s not like she finished them all at the same time, but still—overachiever much?) and will drop another, Live at Stockholm Concert Hall" on iTunes on November 29.
Because she’s all about lyrical, textured folk-pop (she’s been compared to everyone from Joni Mitchell to Kate Bush to Bjork), it’s no surprise she’ll open for fellow music-industry upstart Ani DiFranco at the Town Hall on November 19 (it’s the first of two DiFranco gigs at the Hall; Melissa Ferrick does the honors on 11/20). Check her out performing My Lover Will Go at Café de la Danse in Paris, below.
