What were you doing when you were 19 years old? I spent most of my time trying to steal music via Napster in between attending concerts and binge drinking while attending NYU. In this case, Brad Oberhofer, the singer / guitarist and driving force behind the band of the same family name, and I share some common ground. Along with Bassist Mike Parham, Brad attends NYU, but instead of spending their time chasing girls through Washington Square Park and indulging in the shot special at the Continental, they are creating some seriously infectious indie rock. When Brad isn’t working on his symphony, he and his adopted brothers are penning lo-fi gems that ooze eagerness and burst forward with scattered compositions that afford Brad the chance to steer the songs with vocal melodies.
Then the band takes off to support The Morning Benders and Twin Sister on a tour through the Midwest and northeast. All of these dates should provide the band with a chance to gel and become the type of road tested outfit that can withstand long drives and grungy clubs. It helps that they have youth and great songs on their side.
As the talent buyer of NYC's Mercury Lounge and all around music junkie, Jay Belin gets to indulge his addiction more often than Courtney Love and Scott Weiland combined.
