Designer Michelle Smith poses backstage at the Milly by Michelle Smith Spring 2011 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at The Stage at Lincoln Center on September 15, 2010 in New York City.

Fashion designer Michelle Smith's clothes have been featured on Gossip Girl since it first aired. One of these days, she wants to be featured herself, too.

"They always film in my neighborhood," joked Smith, the designer behind the Milly fashion line. "I'm just going to have to elbow my way in!

“From the time Gossip Girl went on the air they’ve worn Milly. Leighton Meester wears it a lot on the show. I’m actually in the original Gossip Girl books! It’s really neat.”

Thursday night, at an event at Bergdorf Goodman, Smith unveiled new lines of childrenswear, handbags and jewelry.

She was most excited about the children's clothes. Her 4-year-old daughter, Sophia, provided her motiviation.

"She’s my inspiration," Smith said. "She’s my little helper.”

Smith's next big show will be at Fashion Week, where she plans on giving "a little taste of the '70s."

"In terms of fabrics and silhouettes, [expect] a lot of belted coats, maxi coats, mohair, jewel-tone colors," she said. "Very luxurious and rich. I think it’s going to be a really fun show.”

And who does she want to see sporting the fall 2011 line?

“Some ’70s icons, like Lauren Hutton and Anjelica Huston,” she said.
