BEAUTIFUL NOISE: It’s the Summer Soltics, a.k.a. the longest day of the year, a.k.a. time for city streets to crawl with musicians rocking the asphalt with every musical style—from Dixie to djembe—under the sun as part of Make Music New York. 2010 marks the fest’s fourth year, and it’s bigger than ever: More than 1000 free concerts are planned between 11am and 10PM. ONLY GOLD: The HBO Bryant Park Film Festival debuts its 2010 season tonight with a screening of Goldfinger, arguably the best of the Bond movies: Connery Era, if only for Shirley Bassey’s bombastic title track. The lawn opens at 5PM (show up early for the traditional mad crowd dash to score plum squares of green), and the film starts at dusk. (Next week: Carousel.)
HOOF IT: Savion Glover has developed all original songs for Sole Power, his new show at the Joyce Theater, which seeks to “explore the rhythmic percussion” of tap. Translation: This is a show for your ears as well as your eyes. It kicks off its three-week run tonight. 7:30PM.
