A wet mix of snow and rain fell in parts of the tri-state area Monday after a mostly pleasant first weekend of spring.
The storm was expected to bring a glancing blow of a rain and snow, but warm air entered the weather system causing mostly rain to fall in many parts of the tri-state.
High temperatures on Monday exceeded 40 degrees in many areas. Most of the snow, especially in New York City, melted on contact. About 1 to 3 inches fell across Ocean and Monmouth counties in New Jersey and across southern Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island. The accumulations ended by midnight.
The rest of the week looks to be quiet and chilly. Some milder temperatures are expected by next weekend.
