This Sunday, a fest of all things Japanese lights up Madison Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets. Yes, it’s just a block – but it’ll be a dense block, with 40+ vendors and exhibitors showcasing fantastic Japanese products, style, and food (with demos and tastings galore). We’re psyched for that last part – here’s what we’ll be sampling:
Okonomiyaki: Nearly every Japanese region has a version of this savory, comfort-foody pancake
Kikkoman will pass out samples of its five different flavors of soy milk, including matcha (green tea) -- you don't need to be a vegan to love this stuff
Japanese-style shaved ice from Cafe Zaiya
Grilled tonton pork (from “soul food” restaurant Hakata Tonton) and grilled marinated beef (from BBQ joint Gyu-Kaku)
Organizers have also enigmatically promised “a booth by a top New York chef who'll be featuring his secret BBQ sauce made from Japanese ingredients.” Cagey!
