NHL Game Summary – NY Rangers at NY Islanders

Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - Chris Drury scored his first two goals of the season and Michal Rozsival added two assists, as the Rangers bested the Islanders in a battle of New York teams at Nassau Coliseum.

Scott Gomez and Ryan Callahan also lit the lamp for the Rangers, who have won three straight on the heels of a two-game slide. Henrik Lundqvist halted 28- of-30 shots in the win.

Kyle Okposo and Mark Streit tallied for the Islanders, who have dropped four straight tilts. Joey MacDonald let in four goals on 39 shots faced and Richard Park assisted on both goals in defeat.

The visitors took a 2-1 lead at the 16:16 mark of the second period. Nigel Dawes took a shot from the right point, but it was stopped by MacDonald. The rebound, though, bounced in front which allowed Callahan to score on a wrister.

Gomez, from the right side of the goal-line, slid a pass up to the right point and made a move towards the net. Rozsival accepted the pass and launched it right back for a give-and-go which Gomez snapped home over the left skate of MacDonald for a 3-1 Rangers lead with 6:52 gone in the third stanza.

During a 5-on-3 about six minutes later, Drury picked up a loose puck by the left boards and skated into the slot. He then slapped home a shot that went top shelf on MacDonald to make it a 4-1 affair.

A shorthanded goal from Streit pulled the Isles within 4-2, but with two minutes remaining, and the home team came up short.

The Rangers jumped out to a 1-0 lead 1:15 into the game. Drury, from behind the net, threw a pass out front. However, it hit off MacDonald's left skate and trickled into the net for the game's first tally.

The Islanders managed to tie it up with just 7.3 ticks left in the opening frame. After a faceoff from the right circle, Park took the puck behind the goal and slid a pass to the slot. Okposo's wrister made its way across the goal-line to make it 1-1.
