NHL Game Summary – NY Islanders at New Jersey

Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Zach Parise scored twice, including the game- winner late in the third period, as New Jersey continued its recent roll with a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders at Prudential Center.

Jamie Langenbrunner added a pair of goals for the Devils, who have won 11 of their last 13 games. New Jersey also moved eight points in front of idle Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic Division.

Kevin Weekes picked up his fourth win in as many starts, making 23 saves.

Radek Martinek and Kyle Okposo tallied for the Islanders, who have lost four in a row. Although he was saddled with the loss, Joey MacDonald almost single-handedly kept his team in the contest, stopping 46-of-49 shots.

The Devils took a 3-2 lead courtesy of the power play. Paul Martin took a shot from the point, which MacDonald kicked out but didn't follow. Parise was stationed to the right of the crease and tucked the puck home into an open net with 7:25 left in regulation.

Langenbrunner hit the empty net with a little over a minute remaining -- with a primary helper by Parise -- to lock up the victory.

Martinek's wrister 2:32 into the contest put the Isles up 1-0, and though they failed to convert a 5-on-3 advantage shortly thereafter, the Devils knotted the score on a Parise tally with 1:21 left in the period.

Okposo followed his own rebound and put New York back up by one with a power- play marker 6:15 into the second period, then Langenbrunner's man-advantage score evened things at 16:21.
