Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - New York Islanders veteran center Doug Weight is expected to miss six weeks with an MCL sprain.
The club's second-leading scorer, Weight sustained the injury after colliding with Devils right wing Brian Gionta in the second period of Wednesday's 4-2 loss at New Jersey.
A four-time All-Star, Weight has nine goals and 26 assists in 44 games this season for the Islanders, who have the worst record in the league at 16-32-6.
