Family of Soldier Slain in Bergdahl Search Blasts Prisoner Swap

The family of slain 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews, who died while searching for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in 2009, is criticizing the release of the prisoner of war. "If this guy had not gone off post, our son would not have been killed," said Andrews' father. The Defense Department has never said Bergdahl was away without leave and refers to him as a POW, but some other soldiers have described him as wandering away, NBC News reported. The Andrews family learned the connection between their son's death and Bergdahl this weekend when other members of Andrews' platoon voiced disgust that Bergdahl was being portrayed as a hero.
